The Pico Viticulture Cooperative was founded in 1949, when local producers united to revive noble grape varieties and the tradition of stone‑terraced vineyards—now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Over the years more members joined the cause, bringing the total to 250 today, including women, men and families who devote their lives to this centuries‑old art. With 70 years of history, it remains the oldest wine producer in the Azores, continually honoring and preserving its viticultural heritage, and the alliance is the source of the quality wines produced on Azorean soils.
