Let’s just say this wine’s origins are delightfully mysterious. The “Terras de Lava” moniker – volcanic lands, Pico Island – certainly sets the stage for something powerful. Remarkably little information is provided, which, frankly, adds to the intrigue. One suspects a robust character and perhaps a touch of sulfur to boot. The Terralvo grapes, native to the island, undoubtedly wrestle with the imposing geology and Atlantic salinity. A truly remarkable pairing would be with a hearty, slow-cooked shark stew – a deliciously bracing counterpoint to the wine's intensity.
