“Titan 666” from Sernancelhe certainly seems to have sprung from a vintner’s particularly intense numerical obsession. Grown on a remarkable 850-meter-high vineyard, this wine showcases a strikingly rugged beauty, seemingly captivated by the rather dramatic number 666. Primarily Cerceal, nurtured on granite and quartz soils, it’s been treated with a remarkably restrained approach – almost spectral – aging in new French oak, with an almost unsettling level of control over temperature and humidity. Critics suggest it possesses elegant aging potential, and would pair beautifully with aged cheeses.
