This “Titan” from the Douro certainly seems to have been keeping a few secrets, having spent a remarkable 16 months ageing in terracotta amphorae. The result is a truly exceptional texture – almost buttery on the palate – as if it’s just emerged from the clay. Expect intense aromas of fresh red fruits mingled with balsamic notes, and a hint of graphite, hinting at a power that demands respect. Yet, it’s generously rewarded with silky tannins and an impressively voluminous finish, as recognised by *Grande Escolha*, who awarded it 18.5 points. Ideal for pairing with a lean, well-seasoned beef.
