This Vale do Ruivo Vinhas Velhas is a genuine step back in time, crafted from Rufete and Baga grapes grown on these ancient vines – some over a century old – clinging to those rocky slopes at 650 metres. The result is a wine bursting with ripe fruit aromas, underscored by hints of wild rose and pine, alongside the scent of sun-baked grass. It’s remarkably smooth on the palate, with gentle tannins and a lingering finish, making it a wonderful companion for a hearty beef stew or, frankly, a particularly good bottle of red.
