A Vallegre – Vinhos do Porto, S.A. is a Portuguese company whose shareholders represent the fifth generation of a family deeply rooted in the Douro region, dedicated to producing Port wines and high‑quality DOC Douro table wines. Its registered office is at Quinta da Vista Alegre, situated on the right bank of the Douro, between the mouth of the Rio Pinhão and Covas do Douro. The estate’s involvement in wine production dates back to before the 19th century, a fact inferred from specialised books on grape typologies and some abandoned cellars – the mortuary pits. Quinta da Vista Alegre was acquired by the Cunha Barros family in 1965 and later incorporated into the assets of Sociedade Agrícula Barros S.A. Today, while honouring its heritage and the wisdom passed down through generations, Vallegre remains a modern, dynamic company, with the primary objective of producing the highest quality Port and DOC Douro wines. These wines are now sold and appreciated in more than fifty‑five countries, and recent awards and distinctions received in various international competitions attest to and recognise the quality of the wines produced at this estate.
