Crafted from traditional, indigenous grape varieties, these Van Zellers & Co Vintage Ports are painstakingly harvested by hand across the diverse sub-regions of the Douro. The grapes are gently crushed in ancient granite lagares and ferment for 2-5 days within these same lagares. Once the desired sugar level is reached, grape spirit is added to halt fermentation. Following the racking and pressing, the newly produced Porto is aged for 18-24 months in old oak barrels, ranging from 600 to 10,000 litres. Unfiltered and unstained, this 2020 Vintage offers an intense burst of intensely ripe red fruits – think wild berries and compote – reflecting the exceptional warmth of the year and the remarkable diversity of the estate’s historic vines.
