Old wine bottles may show traces of dust and damaged labels, which is to be expected given their age. The National Wine Cellar is obliged to store all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, yet it deliberately preserves the visual appearance inherent to their age. We curate a selection of brands and regions that typically reveal distinct characteristics in old wine tastings. However, we must note that wine is a living organism that, even within a bottle, evolves over time. Consequently, the National Wine Cellar cannot be held responsible for the product’s quality, as it is an aged wine. Our recommendation is to open the bottle and let the wine aerate first, which will help liberate its natural aromas after so many years closed. If you choose to decant the wine before serving, do so patiently to detect the sediment that an old wine tends to produce.
