The Adega Cooperativa da Labrugeira (ACL) traces its origins back to 1973, when 85 viticulturists joined forces, and saw its first harvest in 1975. Today it represents 437 members across 620 hectares. In the 1990s, with the rise of regional wine commissions (CVR), its wines began to be certified as Vinho Regional da Estremadura, now Vinho Regional Lisboa, and as Vinho de Denominação de Origem Controlada – DOC Alenquer. Located in the municipality of Alenquer, the ACL is currently the only cooperative winery in the area, representing all the cooperative growers there. With a strong tradition of quality wine production, the cooperative has steadily upgraded its facilities and is now one of the wineries best positioned to meet enological demands.
