This Vila Nova de Tazem Reserva Edição Especial is a delightful reminder that patience and tradition can yield truly exceptional results. The vineyard’s ancient vines, a fascinating blend of Dão’s familiar grape varieties, enjoyed a remarkably unmodernized maturation, with a vinification process almost delightfully theatrical. The extended bottle aging – as if the wine needed a little nap before wowing us – has bestowed it with a remarkable aromatic complexity and a uniquely textured feel. I’d recommend pairing it with a grilled white fish to really showcase its fruity nuances and subtle acidity.
