The Adega de Vila Real was founded in 1955 and is located in the Demarcated Douro Region, the oldest in the world, and is also recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Our members’ vineyards and estates are still cultivated today using traditional techniques, mainly composed of old vines, with low levels of mechanization and low yields per hectare. It is here that the grapes that give rise to our Port and Douro wines are grown, offering a modern and international profile while preserving the Douro terroir. In recent years, the “Adega de Vila Real” brand has become one of the most vibrant references in the Douro, boosting the region’s reputation both in Portugal and abroad through a range of wines that are widely distinguished by their excellent price‑to‑quality ratio, by the press, and in the most reputable competitions.
