Sogrape Vinhos was founded in 1942 by Fernando van Zeller Guedes, with the ambition to introduce the world to Portuguese wines and a long‑term vision grounded in the quality of the wines sold, the novelty of its brands, and the presentation of its products. Today, led by the third generation of the founding family, Sogrape Vinhos increasingly fulfills the objective set at its inception: to be a family‑run, internationally oriented company focused on producing quality wines, fostering innovation, and developing Portuguese brands of global standing. The company owns about 830 hectares of vineyards in Portugal. Vila Regia is the designation given to settlements founded, in the past, by a king. Portugal has numerous such settlements referenced through charters or royal letters that illustrated land and population privileges and duties. Inspired by this rich history, Sogrape Vinhos began producing Vila Regia in 1989 at its Vila Real winery, thereby expanding its range of table wines from the region. (Illustrative image)
