Villa Maria This is the Sauvignon Blanc that put Villa Maria on the world map. A blend of the Wairau and Awatere valleys of Marlborough, where our winemakers take great care to ensure that this wine delivers exceptional balance and consistency in every harvest. The Awatere Valley is influenced by Mount Tapuae‑o‑Uenuku, and the fresh alpine winds and sea breezes protect the wine’s natural acidity. In contrast, the Wairau Valley enjoys hotter summer months, prompting vines that produce a pungent Sauvignon Blanc with ripe citrus and tropical fruit flavours. The fruit was crushed, pressed and allowed to settle for 48 hours before the solids were removed from the press to produce a clear juice for fermentation. Neutral and aromatic yeast strains were used to enhance intensity. Fermentation was carried out at 12‑14 °C to preserve flavour and aroma. After a brief lees rest, the wine was filtered and bottled to capture its vibrancy and freshness – the essence of a quality Sauvignon Blanc.
