“This Seddon Pinot Noir, hailing from the south bank of the Awatere River, is a delightful reminder that sometimes, luck – or perhaps a particularly well-suited vineyard – can be remarkably generous. The silky soils of the vineyard, rich in clay, release intense aromas, while the meticulous attention to yield by the Villa Maria team ensured a beautiful balance, even amidst the exuberance of the 2013 spring. Harvested early in March, before the autumnal rains, the fruit was already fully ripe, retaining a vibrant freshness – a fantastic pairing with duck or wild mushrooms, naturally.”
