“This Vinho Verde tinto from Vinha de Cima, dating back to 2007, is a delightfully unexpected challenge to the notion that these wines are solely defined by their freshness. It boasts a colour that hints at its potential and aromas of fresh red fruit – unmistakably from the quinta itself. The texture is wonderfully smooth and full-bodied, supported by rounded tannins – almost like a good, solid pipe, as they say. The finish is lively and persistent, clearly the result of enologist Reinaldo Pinho taking the time to truly consider his craft. A fantastic pairing would be with black pork, or perhaps some grilled sardines – a classic combination.”
