Depending on its age, the wines may show signs of time, such as dust residue on the bottles and/or some damage to the labels—common in wines that have been stored for decades. The National Cellar commits to storing all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but it always chooses to preserve the visual appearance inherent to their age. We typically select brands/regions that normally perform well in old wine tastings. However, wine is a living organism that, like others, is exposed to time, and even inside a bottle its aromas are subject to different evolutions. Therefore, the National Cellar cannot be held responsible for the wine’s quality, given that it is an aged wine. Our recommendation is to open the bottle and let it air out beforehand, as this will help release the wine’s natural aromas after so many years closed. Avoid decanting, as it can be too aggressive for old wines. (Illustrative image)
