The bottles of old wines may show dust traces and damaged labels, which is normal for their age. The National Cellar is obliged to store all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but it always opts to preserve the visual appearance that comes with the wine’s age. We carry out a selection of brands/regions that, as a rule, reveal distinct characteristics in tastings of old wines. However, we note that wine is a living organism that, when exposed to time, even within a bottle, its aromas are subject to various evolutions. Therefore, the National Cellar cannot be held responsible for the product’s quality, as it is an aged wine. Our recommendation is to open the bottle and let the wine breathe first, as this will help release its natural aromas after so many years sealed. If you choose to decant the wine before serving, make sure to do so patiently to detect the appearance of sediment, which an old wine tends to produce. (illustrative image)
