Vallegre – Vinhos do Porto, S.A. is a Portuguese company whose shareholders represent the fifth generation of a family deeply rooted in the Douro region, dedicated to producing high‑quality Port and DOC Douro table wines. Its headquarters are at Quinta da Vista Alegre, on the right bank of the Douro, between the mouth of the Pinhão River and Covas do Douro. The estate’s origins in wine production predate the 19th century, a conclusion drawn from specialized books on grape typologies and from abandoned cellars—called mortuaries. Quinta da Vista Alegre was acquired by the Cunha Barros family in 1965 and later incorporated into the holdings of Sociedade Agrícula Barros S.A. Today, while honoring its past and the knowledge passed down through generations, Vallegre remains a modern, dynamic company with the primary goal of producing the highest quality Port and DOC Douro wines. The wines are now sold and enjoyed in more than fifty‑five countries, and recent awards and distinctions received in various international competitions attest to and recognize the quality of the wines produced at this estate.
