This wine from Susana Esteban is a masterclass in patience and tradition. Crafted from vines aged 80 years in the Serra de São Mamede, using a variety that’s certainly stood the test of time, it’s fermented in a magnificent 1961 Alsatian *foudre* – a true leviathan of 1150 litres. The meticulous hand-picking of the grapes in 20kg boxes speaks to an almost obsessive care. A truly rewarding experience for those who appreciate a wine with a soul and a story – it would pair beautifully with a nicely grilled white fish, perhaps sea bass?
