About this region

Saint-Émilion Grand Cru is a Bordeaux appellation in the Libournais, covering the same eight communes as Saint-Émilion itself. It is the stricter of the two, with lower maximum yields, mandatory tasting inspections and a minimum of ten months' ageing before release. The blend is Merlot-dominant, with Cabernet Franc and smaller amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon.
