Taylor's — Quinta de Vargellas

Quinta de Vargellas is Taylor's iconic Douro Superior estate — a remote, isolated property reachable only by the historic Douro train line or a winding mountain road. Its schist vineyards produce the heart of Taylor's Vintage Ports and the celebrated Vargellas Vinha Velha (in exceptional years only). Visits — generally by appointment and small in scale — take in the main house, the ageing cellars and tastings that compare the Vargellas style with other Taylor's quintas.

Quinta de Vargellas in the Douro Superior is the heart of Taylor's great Vintage Ports since its acquisition in 1893; the schist terroir is regarded as one of the most privileged in the Douro.
