Sogrape Vinhos was founded in 1942 by Fernando van Zeller Guedes with the ambition of introducing Portuguese wines to the world. The company’s long‑term vision is rooted in the quality of the wines it sells, the importance of brand innovation, and the way its wines are presented. Today, led by the third generation of the founding family, Sogrape Vinhos increasingly fulfills the goal set at its inception: to be a family‑run, internationally oriented company focused on producing quality wines, fostering innovation, and developing Portuguese brands that compete on a global level. The company owns roughly 830 hectares of vineyards across Portugal. Offley, founded in London in 1737 by William Offley as a wine trading house, soon began exporting wines and later produced its own Port, earning worldwide recognition as a producer of high‑quality wines. The decisive turning point for the company came when Joseph James Forrester joined as a partner. Known as the Baron Forrester, he played a pivotal role in expanding the international trade of Port wine and was the first person to map the Douro River and its valley, earning him recognition and membership in several European geographic and arts societies.
