Established in 1751, Ferreira has long been synonymous with high‑quality Portuguese wine. The brand’s history intertwines with the evolution of the Demarcated Douro Region, defined in 1756, and its Port and still wines. Years later, the family business was run by Antónia Adelaide, widow of António Bernardo II. Known for her exceptional energy and rare commercial talent, she gave a significant boost to viticulture in the Douro and developed a noted social‑assistance activity in the region. After her death, the company became a limited partnership and entered a new phase of expansion, always maintaining its core values. These values brought Ferreira to our present day and were instrumental in creating wines such as the legendary Barca Velha in the 1950s. Since 1987, under the management of Sogrape Vinhos, the company has led the national Port market and continues to present prestigious wine brands such as Quinta da Leda.
