Very few producers, especially in Madeira wine, have experienced a revolution as great as Barbeito’s. Turning from a bulk wine supplier into a regional benchmark for Madeira wines is a remarkable feat. In 1991 Ricardo Freitas joined the family business and, together with the Japanese Kinoshita partners, set out to make Barbeito one of the most important producers of Madeira wines.
