Very few producers, especially in Madeira wine, experience a revolution as significant as the one that happened with Barbeito. Going from a bulk‑wine supplier to becoming a reference in the Madeira wine region is an achievement. Everything happened in 1991 when Ricardo Freitas joined the family business and, together with his Japanese partners Kinoshita, decided to make Barbeito one of the most important producers of Madeira wine.
