A family business with nearly two centuries of history that, never resting on its laurels, has managed to modernise. José Maria da Fonseca has been winemaking since 1834, the product of a shared passion that has preserved and projected the memory and prestige of its founder. Knowing its responsibility as today the oldest producer of table wine and Moscatel de Setúbal in Portugal, the house follows a philosophy of continuous development, investing increasingly in research and production support, blending the latest techniques with traditional know‑how. A clear example is the Adega José de Sousa Rosado Fernandes in Reguengos de Monsaraz, Alentejo, where the Roman tradition of fermenting in clay pots runs alongside the newest technology.
