Quinta Vale D. Maria, situated in the heart of the Douro, in the Cima Corgo area and more precisely in the Vale do Rio Torto, has a history that dates back to 1868. However, a new era of excellence began in 1996 when Cristiano van Zeller acquired the estate from his wife’s family, Joana Lemos van Zeller. Over more than two decades, Cristiano has led a dedicated, passionate effort, creating unique wines of quality recognised both in Portugal and abroad. The acquisition of Quinta Vale D. Maria by the Aveleda group in 2017 represents the continuation of this legacy, adding a long‑term vision focused on excellence and sustainability. This philosophy is based on a passion for every detail, beginning with hand‑selecting the finest bunches, continuing with traditional winemaking methods, and concluding with careful selection of the best French oak barrels. A commitment to a sustainable viticulture model is a priority, ensuring that wine quality remains while respecting natural resources. The bottling year may not correspond to the image shown.
