In 1730, Henry Burmester and John Nash founded Burmester & Nash in London, dedicated to the trade of cereals. Later, in 1750, already in Vila Nova de Gaia, they began exporting Port wine to Europe and the British Isles. From generation to generation they distinguished themselves by the rigor and expertise they devoted to Port, elevating the Burmester name to the highest levels of quality and international recognition. Burmester can be considered a specialist in vintages, with magnificent harvests at its disposal that it regularly releases. Yet their Vintage Ports are of outstanding quality, showcasing their splendor in great vintage years. At the turn of the millennium, Burmester was acquired by the Sogevinus Group, which continues to preserve brands created five centuries ago.
