The House of Sandeman was founded in London in 1790 by George Sandeman, a young Scot from Perth who decided to invest 300 pounds—borrowed from his father—in a venture to market Port and Sherry wines. Always a pioneer, Sandeman was the first company to brand a fire‑topped barrel with its name, guaranteeing the quality of the wine it sold. Over more than two centuries, Sandeman has built its success on a rare capacity for innovation and on expertise passed down from generation to generation. Today, under the ownership of the Portuguese company Sogrape Vinhos, Sandeman clearly positions itself as the global flagship of Port and Sherry, proudly signing: “Sandeman, Famous for Pleasure.” The bottling year may not match the image presented.
