In some years, when a classic Fonseca Vintage Port isn’t available, a Guimaraens Vintage can be produced as an alternative. The 1930 release of Guimaraens Vintage Ports came from the same years as the classic Fonseca Vintage, but the blends were made with slightly less powerful components, such as secondary wines from “Châteaux de Bordeaux.” Today, Guimaraens Vintage Ports are selected from years when the grapes are more flexible and mature early, allowing Fonseca to harvest larger yields and produce longer‑lasting Ports. Despite these differences, Guimaraens Vintage Ports share the same origins, heritage, and complex fruity style as Fonseca’s classic vintages and come from the same three estates. They simply offer a more affordable, earlier‑drinking option at a lower price point. The bottling year may not match the image shown (illustrative only).
