Sogrape Vinhos was founded in 1942 by Fernando van Zeller Guedes, with the ambition of introducing the world to Portuguese wines and a long‑term vision centered on the quality of the wines sold, the importance of brand innovation, and the presentation of its products. Today, led by the third generation of the founding family, Sogrape Vinhos increasingly fulfills the goal it set at its inception: to be a family‑owned company with an international outlook, focused on producing quality wines, innovating, and developing Portuguese brands of global stature. The company owns about 830 hectares of vineyards in Portugal. Offley, founded in London in 1737 by William Offley, began as a wine trading house. The company quickly started exporting wine and later began producing its own Port, earning worldwide recognition as a producer of high‑quality wines. A turning point for the company’s growth came when Joseph James Forrester joined as a partner. Known as the Baron of Forrester, he played a pivotal role in expanding the international trade of Port wine and was the first to map the Douro River and its valley, earning him recognition and membership in several European societies of Geography and the Arts.
