The Maynard's Colheita is produced from a blend of traditional Douro grape varieties, carefully selected and aged in French oak barrels, delivering a rich, full‑bodied structure that remains smooth, with excellent balance and elegance. Barão de Vilar, Vinhos S.A. was founded in January 1996 from a stock of wines acquired by Fernando Luiz Van Zeller and passed to his two sons, Fernando and Álvaro. Its corporate name derives from a noble title granted by D. Maria II of Portugal to Cristiano Nicolau Kopke, 1st Baron of Vilar, in 1836, a title that remains in the family’s direct possession by descent. Before establishing Barão de Vilar, the Van Zeller family owned Quinta do Noval, one of the most renowned estates in the Port wine sector, from which the legendary “Vintage 1931 Nacional” originates—a wine considered one of the two best of the 20th century by Wine Spectator. Today, Barão de Vilar operates as Van Zeller Wine Collection, a company that embodies a collection of values, ideas, stories and wines. The bottling year may not correspond to the image shown.
