Quinta Vale D. Maria, situated in the heart of the Douro, in the Cima Corgo and more precisely in the Vale do Rio Torto, has a history that dates back to 1868. However, a new era of excellence began in 1996 when Cristiano van Zeller took over the estate from his wife’s family, Joana Lemos van Zeller. Over more than two decades, Cristiano has steered a work of dedication and passion, creating unique wines whose quality is recognized both in Portugal and abroad. In 2017, the estate was acquired by the Aveleda group, ensuring the continuation of this legacy with a long‑term vision focused on excellence and sustainability. This philosophy is built on a passion for every detail: from hand‑picking the finest bunches, to using traditional vinification methods, to selecting the best French oak barrels.
