With a medium lemon‑yellow and pale colour, the 2010 Suduiraut shows a quite salty nose with notes of salty almonds, nutmeg and cinnamon, combined with caramel cream, pear tart and peach. The palate is intensely sweet, concentrated and buttery, with mild acidity and a spicy finish. Château Suduiraut, Premier Cru Classé in 1855, is one of the historic châteaux of Sauternes. A rigorous selection, both in the vineyard and in the cellars, guarantees the production of the wines of Château Suduiraut, which represent the successful expression of this exceptional terroir. Certified as High Environmental Value, the estate covers 91 hectares of vineyards on a sandy‑clay soil, whose stones capture the sun’s heat and allow the grapes to reach maturity more quickly. The chosen proportions of grape varieties are decisive for the wine’s unique profile. Ninety percent of the vines at Suduiraut are Sémillon, with ten percent Sauvignon Blanc. Sémillon, a traditional variety of the region, develops a wide mouthfeel, fatness and sweetness when affected by noble rot. Sauvignon Blanc contributes citrus aromas, white peach and exotic fruits, giving the lot a touch of acidity, freshness and aromatic complexity. (illustrative image only)
