Sogrape Vinhos was founded in 1942 by Fernando van Zeller Guedes, with the ambition of introducing Portuguese wines to the world and a long‑term vision grounded in the quality of the wines it markets, the importance of brand novelty, and the presentation of its products. Today, led by the third generation of the founding family, Sogrape Vinhos increasingly fulfills the objective set at its inception: to be a family‑run, internationally oriented company focused on producing quality wines, on innovation, and on developing Portuguese brands of global stature. The company owns approximately 830 hectares of vineyards in Portugal. Offley, founded in London in 1737 by William Offley as a wine trading house, quickly began exporting wines and later produced its own Port wine, giving the brand worldwide recognition as a producer of high‑quality wines. A pivotal moment for the company’s expansion came when Joseph James Forrester joined as a partner. Known as the Baron of Forrester, he played a key role in the growth of Port wine’s international trade and was the first to map the Douro River and valley, earning him recognition and admission to several European societies of Geography and the Arts.
