In 1730, Henry Burmester and John Nash founded Burmester & Nash in London, dedicated to the trade of cereals. Later, in 1750—already in Vila Nova de Gaia—they began exporting Port wine to Europe and the British Isles. From generation to generation, they have distinguished themselves by the rigor and expertise devoted to Port wine, elevating the Burmester name to the highest level of quality and international recognition. We can regard Burmester as a specialist in vintages, with magnificent harvests at their disposal that they release regularly. Nonetheless, their Vintage Ports are of excellent quality, showcasing their splendor in outstanding vintage years. At the turn of the millennium, Burmester was acquired by the Sogevinus Group, which continues to immortalise brands founded five centuries ago.
