One of the most prestigious estates in the Douro is Quinta do Vallado, an estate that once belonged to D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, the Ferreirinha, and remains today in the hands of her descendants. The Vallado wines had been unjustly forgotten, but have now naturally reclaimed their lost time. They are wines of great importance in the history of the Douro, deserving to be among the top-tier offerings. Built in 1716, Quinta do Vallado stands as one of the oldest estates in the region. It is located near Régua, on the banks of the Rio Corgo. The fate of this iconic estate is in the hands of João Alves Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, both descendants of Ferreirinha, who are responsible for the management of the business and the enology, respectively.
