Quinta Vale D. Maria, situated in the heart of the Douro in the Cima Corgo area—specifically in the Vale do Rio Torto—has a history that dates back to 1868. A new era of excellence began in 1996 when Cristiano van Zeller acquired the estate from his wife’s family, Joana Lemos van Zeller. Over more than two decades, Cristiano has led a dedication and passion, crafting unique wines that are recognised for quality both in Portugal and abroad. The acquisition of Quinta Vale D. Maria by the Aveleda group in 2017 continues that legacy, adding a long‑term vision focused on excellence and sustainability. This philosophy rests on a love for every detail: from the hand‑picked selection of the finest clusters, through the use of traditional vinification techniques, to the careful choice of the best French oak barrels. Embracing a sustainable viticulture model is a priority, ensuring that wine quality remains high while respecting natural resources. The bottling year may not correspond to the image shown.
