One of the most prestigious estates in the Douro is Quinta do Vallado, a property that once belonged to D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, the Ferreirinha, and remains in the hands of her descendants to this day. Vallado wines had been unfairly forgotten, but have now naturally reclaimed the time lost. They are wines of great significance to the Douro’s history and deserve a place at the pinnacle. Built in 1716, the Quinta do Vallado ranks among the oldest in the region. It lies close to Régua on the banks of the Rio Corgo. The future of this emblematic estate rests with João Alves Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, both Ferreirinha descendants, who oversee the company and enology, respectively.
