In the national wine scene, there is no producer more widely acclaimed than Niepoort, and its long history began in 1842 with the first Van Der Niepoort arriving in Portugal. When he entered the Port wine market as a merchant, he quickly established a business that would prove both prosperous and forward‑looking. Thus, in the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort emerged, a pivotal producer in the wine world, recognized as one of the most influential figures who has worked—and continues to work—on behalf of Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them improve their wines and better understand their vineyards, while simultaneously building his own legacy alongside those who consistently create innovative wines. Today, Dirk Niepoort is involved in many other projects across almost all Portuguese wine regions and a few foreign ones. The bottling year may not correspond to the image shown.
