One of the most prestigious estates in the Douro is Quinta do Vallado, an estate that belonged to D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, the Ferreirinha, and which still remains in the hands of her descendants today. Vallado wines have been unfairly forgotten and are now naturally reclaiming lost ground. They hold great significance in the history of the Douro and deserve a place among the top tiers. Built in 1716, Quinta do Vallado is one of the oldest estates in the region, situated near Régua on the banks of the Corgo River. Its destiny is in the hands of João Alves Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, both descendants of the Ferreirinha, who oversee the company and its enology, respectively.
