Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal, founded in 1922 under the name João Pires & Filhos, has come a long way and established itself as one of Portugal's most innovative wine producers. The company began by producing wines from grapes grown in the Palmela region. During the 1980s, Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal began its expansion, acquiring properties across the country and setting new standards in the production of quality wines. Regarded as the most beautiful estate from the first half of the 15th century still standing in Portugal, the Quinta da Bacalhôa is a former property of the Portuguese Royal House. Located in Azeitão, the estate and the famous Bacalhôa Palace form an artistic monument of great importance to the country. Today, the Quinta da Bacalhôa belongs to the Berardo Foundation, which is owned by the family of the same name, whose patriarch is Commendator José Berardo. On June 23, 1910, it was classified as a National Monument. In the area surrounding Quinta da Bacalhôa, visitors will find picturesque villages, wineries, and one of the most beautiful and impressive landscapes in Portugal, the Arrábida Natural Park.
