This Setúbal Moscatel from José Maria da Fonseca is a bold statement – a wine that clearly enjoyed a long, pleasant chat with the Setúbal Peninsula’s sun and limestone. Its DOC status, established since 1907, is certainly justified, and the influence of the Tejo Basin, with its renowned dew points, results in a remarkable concentration of fruit and a structure that demands attention. The subtle oak ageing (5 months in ex-bourbon barrels) lends it a beautiful golden hue and added complexity, earning it a well-deserved 85 points from *Revista de Vinhos*. A truly lingering finish, reminiscent of apricots and caramel, makes it a fantastic partner for aged cheeses or a luscious fruit tart.
