This “High Rating” from the Douro is clearly aiming for a serious impact – nine months ageing in French oak certainly suggests it. The Touriga Nacional, predictably, dominates, weaving in ripe red fruit with hints of spice and a whisper of vanilla. A fantastic match for a hearty roast or, perhaps more interestingly, some wild mushrooms.
