This Anima Mea – “My Soul” – clearly aimed for something truly exceptional. Eleven months in French oak barrels, topped with acacia wood, hint at a desire for sophistication, though I confess the acacia is a rather quirky touch. Produced in just 1300 bottles, demand will undoubtedly be high, and the subsequent 22 months of bottle aging promise a delightfully slow and intriguing evolution. Perhaps best enjoyed with a grilled white fish and lemon to balance the wine’s complexity.
