This “Artefacto” from the Alentejo isn’t messing around – it’s a wine built for intensity. Predominantly Alicante Bouschet, a grape known for thriving in the region’s warm climate, it bursts with ripe black fruit notes, a subtle spice lift, and – surprisingly – a whisper of violet. The robust tannins, a gift from the Alentejo’s distinctive terroir, suggest a wine that needs to be paired with rich, flavourful dishes, like a hearty duck rice or roasted pork. And, of course, it’s earned its prize at the Wine Awards 2022 – a fitting acknowledgement of its bold character.
