Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal, founded in 1922 under the name João Pires & Sons, has taken a long journey, establishing itself as one of the most innovative wine producers in Portugal. The company began by producing wines from grapes of the Palmela region. In the 1980s, Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal started its expansion, acquiring properties across the country and creating new paradigms for quality wine production. Regarded as the most beautiful estate from the first half of the 15th century still existing in Portugal, Quinta da Bacalhôa is an ancient royal property. Located in Azeitão, the estate and the famous Palace of Bacalhôa form an artistic monument of great relevance to the country. Today, Quinta da Bacalhôa belongs to the Berardo Foundation, owned by the family of the same name and whose patriarch is Commander José Berardo. On 23 June 1910 it was classified as a National Monument. In the area surrounding Quinta da Bacalhôa, visitors find picturesque villages, cellars, and one of Portugal’s most beautiful and imposing landscapes – the Arrábida Natural Park.
