The Brites Aguiar Agricultural Estate covers 200 hectares of fertile ground, spread across the slopes of the Rio Torto and Ribeira de Galegos. Surrounded by the Douro microclimate, each crop finds its ideal spot, as until the late 1960s the estate’s economic backbone was the olive grove. Over the years the olive culture receded, making way for vineyards that remain the focus to this day. Other crops are still cultivated, but the priority is vine cultivation for wine production. Brites Aguiar’s wines are presented in the Bafarela and Brites Aguiar ranges, with the latter being the flagship of the portfolio, produced only in exceptional vintages. (illustrative image only)
