Barbeito Mário Barbeito was born in Funchal in 1905 and died in the same city in 1985. Aside from wine, reading and books were his other great passions. The History of Madeira, the History of Christopher Columbus and the discovery of America comprised the main themes of his library, which exceeded twenty‑five thousand volumes, unfortunately lost in the February 2010 storm. From the wines that Ricardo Diogo produced in the last years of the vineyards of São Jorge and those older ones left by his grandfather, he created this small batch of Bastardo with more than 50 years in his honour. In June 2017, 550 units were bottled, all individually numbered.
