The Barroca da Malhada rosé comes from a field blend of Touriga Nacional and Baga, sourced from hand‑harvested grapes and artisanal winemaking, featuring spontaneous fermentation and minimal cellar intervention. Whole bunches are pressed in a vertical manual press, allowing the purest expression of both varieties to be extracted. It fermented at low temperatures and, at the end, aged on fine lees with stirring. The wine displays a clear, bright salmon hue. Its aroma is subtle and elegant, with notes of fresh red fruit and a delicate floral touch. On the palate it offers vibrant acidity, an engaging profile and a balanced body, with enough structure to pair with more demanding dishes while maintaining freshness and precision. Barroca da Malhada is an artisanal wine producer from Beira Interior, originating from a historic estate dating back to the Middle Ages that once belonged to the Viscounts of Tinalhas. With about five hectares of vines grown biologically and using biodynamic practices, the estate works on slate‑sandy soils of granitic origin, in one of Portugal’s most mountainous regions. The wines reflect a low‑intervention approach, privileging authenticity, freshness and place expression.
